Things We Love – Succulent Gardens
If you’re anything like me, you’ve learned you accept the fact that you have a bit of a black thumb when it comes to gardening. Well, I’m trying to undo years and years of killing countless, helpless houseplants, shrubs and the like that never stood a chance simply because I didn’t take the time to educate myself on how to properly care for them.
Lately, I’ve become obsessed with these beautiful succulent plants. Even the name alone sounds so lush. So this time, I’ve done my research! A succulent (similar to a cactus) is a plant that’s capable of going long periods of time without water because it stores the water it needs in its stems and leaves. So for someone like me who can (oops!) periodically forget to water, these are ideal. Just place them in a sunny either indoor or outdoor spot in a shallow, porous, container filled with sand, soil and compost so that moisture can evaporate easily and you’re off to the races.
Or even better, come to celadon and buy the pretty artificial ones. All you have to do is dust them. 🙂
Either way, whether you’re feeling ambitious or you want to take the easy way out, try something new with these beautiful succulents. They are such a nice change of pace and so low maintenance! Go green! – M
