Celadon’s Flea & Farmers Market is filled with artisans and makers from all over the Charleston area looking to make a start, or continuing to chase their dreams. We take pride in helping to advocate for our local small businesses, as we too, are a small, local business. This new blog series is spotlighting artists and makers who have made a name for themselves among The Holy City and who help to influence and encourage our vendors and customers alike. We are excited to continue with Miguel of Holy City Handcraft!

Tell us about yourself.
My name is Miguel Buencamino and I’m the guy behind Holy City Handcraft. What people don’t know about me is that I have never worked in the service/bartending industry and my day job is in software as a Quality Engineer. I’m also a husband to my beautiful wife, Brie, and a father to our four-month old son, Bennett and 81-month old dog, Marty. I started Handcraft about three years ago as a cooking and whiskey review blog. Over the years has evolved into a cocktail/spirits and Charleston-lifestyle Instagram page that highlights not only my life, photography and original craft cocktails but also the best of what the Charleston scene has to offer.
Where do you find your inspiration in Charleston for your work?
The people that make this city thrive. Even though Charleston is one of the most historic towns in America, it has a young, vibrant community full of creative people who are friendly, collaborative and supportive of one another.
How would you describe your decorating style?
A mix of rustic and mid-century modern.
What are some of your favorite recent pieces from Celadon?
Based on my style, I’m really digging this Tufted Leather Sofa, I think it would be perfect for my home bar – but I’m a huge sucker for a brass bar cart and bar tools and glassware to match.
What is your favorite part of the Celadon Flea & Farmers Market?
I love the fact that Celadon really lets the local creative community come together. Artists and makers gather together to showcase their craft and make connections with other creators. I really dig the fact that Celadon doesn’t take a cent off from these people, truly embracing the communal aspect of it all.
