In Good Company with Allison Williamson of Charleston Artist Collective
Welcome back to our new “In Good Company” series, where we will profile some of our favorite Charleston people. Follow along as we take a peek inside their spaces to see what inspires them, and how they bring their favorite finds from Celadon to life.
Next on our list is Allison Williamson. An innovator and leader in the Southeast’s vibrant visual arts scene, Allison is both a nurturer of local talent and a nationally respected authority on the exhibition and sales of original works of art.
Allison was a pioneer in online art sales when she launched the Charleston Artist Collective in 2010 as a web-based gallery with a mission to offer patrons affordable, original art while giving back to the communities it serves. Over the past decade, she has opened a studio here (in the Old Village) and added sister Collectives in Atlanta, Nashville and Washington, DC representing over 50 of the Southeast’s most talented artists.
From abstracts and landscapes to representational works, the Artist Collective features a broad range of artistic styles and is a favorite resource for art lovers, collectors and interior designers across the United States. Under its “giving back” business model, 5% of profits from Artist Collective sales are given to non-profit organizations in their respective markets. To date, charitable donations exceed $200K. www.artistcollectives.org
