Celadon’s Flea & Farmers Market is filled with artisans and makers from all over the Charleston area looking to make a start, or continuing to chase their dreams. We take pride in helping to advocate for our local small businesses, as we too, are a small, local business. This new blog series is spotlighting artists and makers who have made a name for themselves among The Holy City and who help to influence and encourage our vendors and customers alike. We are excited to continue with actor and owner of one of our favorite downtown Charleston spots, Queen Street Grocery — Rob Bouton.

    Tell us about yourself.

My name is Rob. Not Robert, never Robbie. I am 6’4, all legs, and I wear a beard to accentuate the jawline I crave but so lack.

Where do you find your inspiration in Charleston for your work?

Harleston Village, an intrinsically Charleston hood that I celebrate… My corner store is there and I love the hood. I absorb downtown and all the people that walk in and out of my life. The energy is palpable.

How would you describe your decorating style?

I would say that I went from totally geek in my 20s to totally Boho Chic in my 30s. Sashay Shante!  Love flowering plants, bonzais and greenery in my comfy spaces. Oversized chairs and massive sofas for my naps…Fantabulous!

What are some of your favorite recent pieces from Celadon?

Sectional sofas are my jam and I dream of having a room with just Celadon sectionals when I come back from my travels. Plus, creating a space where I can relax and daydream is part of establishing an incubator where I can recharge and get back at it. Recently I have been interested in pillow covers because apparently they tie it all together.

What is your favorite part of the Celadon Flea & Farmers Market?

I enjoy seeing the collaboration across the many vendors that come in and out of Celadon. All of the art! To me, Celadon is on the forefront of progressive travel buying and adventure and that is exhibited in the vibe throughout the store. Blending the sublime with the cozy nature of curating a home. Rebecca and Grace’s buying styles give me options to play with when I need to shift a room or bring life to a space.
